The main objective of the scientific and technical policy of the Academy is training of specialists, pedagogical and scientific staff meeting the world’s competency requirements, efficient use of educational and scientific potential for the development of the economy and solution of issues facing the country and the industry.
The main objectives of the scientific activity are:
Acquiring new knowledge, establishment and development of new scientific schools in the most important fields of science, education and technology;
Creating a breakthrough in the main fields of the Academy’s scientific activity;
Upgrading competency level of the teaching staff of the Academy, engaging cadets into R&D work;
Preservation and strengthening of the basic education for further development of higher education;
Creation of high end products and viable types of new technology and materials aimed at hi tech market;
Development of the innovative activities of the Academy;
Implementing results of R&D developments into industry and study process;
Carrying out fundamental and applied scientific research and R&D work, organization of manufacturing of the test samples and test batches of goods, scientific supervision of the mass production of goods, ensuring scientific guidance of in the process of industrial use of the developed techniques and methods;
Creating conditions for the protection of the intellectual property of the Academy, authors’ copyrights as a basis for the strengthening and development of the higher school science, creating conditions for the Academy’s entrance on the market of hi tech products;
Expansion of the international scientific and technical cooperation with foreign educational institutions and companies with the aim of entering the global scientific and educational system and joint development of scientific and technical products;
Development of the financial basis of the R&D by using non budget financing and innovation activities;
Promotion of scientific developments.
Organization and planning of the scientific activity of the Academy is carried out by the Scientific and Research Sector in full compliance with the legislation of the Russian Federation.
Currently Scientific and Research Sector comprises the following subdivisions:
Scientific and research laboratories;
Creative scientific groups at different Chairs carrying out research in the fields defined by their specialization and included into the work plan;
Staffers of Scientific and Research Sector;
Group of information support and intellectual property protection.
Scientific activity of the Academy is carried out in the following areas:
Improvement of the navigational methods, increasing safety of shipping, development of the navigational technical means.
Optimization of the technical operation of power plants aboard merchant ships.
Ways of increasing the efficiency of the transport operation under conditions of transition to the market.
Improvement of the ship-board electrical equipment, automation means and their technical operation.
Development of ways and means of the ocean exploration.
Development and improvement of the telecommunication systems, radio navigation and radio location.
Optimization of the technical operation and improvement of the military equipment and armament.
Simulators, training complexes and systems of the informational support of operators.
